Notes on Learning

I love learning and creating stimulating, nurturing, and expansive environments and resources for transformative learning experiences. Learning, research and practice, is inseparable from life. I have faith in the power of learning to transform the world.

I learn with others convening, facilitating, mentoring, and teaching across a broad range of contexts, subjects, and communities. I design learning opportunities with and for children, families, young people, graduates, independent artists and people of all ages and abilities across art gallery and museum education programmes; for undergraduate university and conservatoire curriculums; for specialist institutions, creative organisations and collectives, and Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisations. I support the development of learning across experimental, transdisciplinary, and collaborative practice; performance making; embodied, somatic improvisational dance techniques, choreography, and contact improvisation; spatial, environmental and socially engaged post-studio practice; writing; activism; and learning. I work with architecture, ceramics, dance, design, drawing, film, painting, reading, sculpture, sound, and writing, and use these in various unpredictable and exciting combinations for learning with others.

I develop my skills for learning through my creative transdisciplinary practice, commissions, exhibitions and performances, and independent, multi-modal research. I attend workshops, courses, intensives, talks and panel discussions; I listen to podcasts; I participate in artist residencies and open studios; and I collaborate with institutions to produce public programmes for my exhibitions.

My health and vitality transform when I am empowered by transparent and multidirectional learning therefore I am committed to intersectional, collaborative, and transdisciplinary anti-racist, decolonial, feminist, queer, anti-capitalist, ecologically and socially sustainable learning. I use publicly accessible resources and decentring practices to support learning with the goal of positively transforming learning, health, and creative development at the institutional, professional, and individual level.

Learning, for me, is a moment of synthesis between fragmented dimensions of life that touch me deeply and reveal new and better ways of living and stewarding life to thrive. My social work with diverse groups across human rights, arts and culture non-profit, social wellbeing and social welfare informs my approach to learning (see info for details).
