AVALANCHE with Maria Danilova (2024)
AVALANCHE is an avant-garde conceptual abstraction. A fine art performance. A manifesto. A creative playful process examining modes of perception, display, and gathering. A framework for citation, textual analysis and critical reflection. AVALANCHE dines on the cynicism and disinterest of people celebrating art. Here, the artists creating AVALANCHE flirt with who’s performing and who isn’t. Ambivalent and irreverent towards the institutionalisation of artistic freedom AVALANCHE behaves curiously towards masks people may be wearing during the performance. Theatricality and antagonism varies amongst the artists depending on the context, their practices and needs. AVALANCHE is an ensemble, even when there’s a solo. AVALANCHE with Maria Danilova was adapted by Adam Moore and Maria Danilova for Battenberg II at WAY OUT EAST Gallery, London. They installed their collaborative, mixed media collage, ready-made wall drawing during AVALANCHE at WAY OUT EAST Gallery, London. Adam’s original AVALANCHE (2022), was commissioned by Queer Art Projects for the qap.digital launch at 180 Strand, London.
