AVALANCHE with Maria Danilova, WAY OUT EAST Gallery 2024
AVALANCHE is an avant-garde conceptual abstraction. A manifesto. A playful performance probing modes of perception, display, and gathering. A framework for citation, textual analysis and critical reflection. AVALANCHE dines on cynicism, disinterest, and self importance. Artists AVALANCHE flirting with who’s performing and who isn’t. Ambivalent and irreverent towards the institutionalisation of artistic freedom AVALANCHE behaves curiously towards masks people wear. Theatricality and antagonism varies. AVALANCHE is an ensemble, even when there’s a solo. AVALANCHE with Maria Danilova was adapted by Adam Moore and Maria Danilova for Battenberg II at WAY OUT EAST Gallery, London. They installed their mixed-media collage, ready-made and wall drawing during AVALANCHE at WAY OUT EAST Gallery, London. AVALANCHE (2022) was commissioned by Queer Art Projects for the qap.digital launch at 180 Strand, London.
